He has been actively working as a professional artist and as a social organizer with many social and human rights organizations for the past fifteen years.

Santu received his Graduation (B.F.A) and Masters (M.F.A) degrees from the Print Making Department of the Fine Art Institute of the University of Dhaka; and Post-graduation degrees on Human Resource Management (PGDHRM) and the International Relations (PGDIR) from the Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM) and Dhaka University respectively. Santu also acquired institutional training in photography, videography and film making; and participated in different seminars and workshops on human rights, justice, non-violence and social development.

His first Solo Poster Exhibition on human rights was held at the Alliance Françoise, Dhaka in 1994. The exhibition styled In Search of a Peaceful World was organized by the Coordinating Council for Human Rights in Bangladesh (CCHRB). In 1995, the German Culture Centre (Goethe Institut) in Dhaka organized his second Poster Exhibition on the occasion of the International Seminar on Women’s Human Rights. His third Poster Exhibition was held in collaboration with the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Dhaka and the Alliance Francaise to commemorate the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The themes of his posters were women’s rights, children’s rights, adverse situation of women and children, different types of social erosion, craziness of nuclear arms, prevention of ecology, international peace, solidarity and brotherhood.

According to Bulbon Osman, an eminent writer, art critic and sociologist, "silent protests have been portrayed in Santu’s posters". Presentation and style of Santu’s poster are modern. He makes his posters using bright colors, photographs and with the support from the computer software.

Santu works principally on print media; and also on posters. These are the mediums through which he takes part in various art exhibitions.
